Neutron Scattering Studies and the Phase Diagram of the
Cuprate High-Temperature Superconductors
I will review how the powerful experimental probes of neutron diffraction
and neutron scattering can yield valuable information about new ordered
states of matter and their excitations. The emphasis will be on studies
of the rich phase diagram of the cuprate high-temperature superconductors
that were discovered by J. G. Bednorz and K. A. Muller (1987 Physics Nobel
Prize).
